Luca's biography is written by her owner, trainer and handler – Sherran Howlett.

Luca is a wonderful, much loved and loving member of the Howlett family.  She loves everyone and every thing and lives for the cuddles she can get and the cuddles she can give.

Luca was always destined for a career in the agility ring so started attending obedience classes at 12 weeks of age. At 2 she started competing in NADAC (North American Dog Agility Council) competition and soon gained her Novice Tunnelers, Novice Tunnelers Outstanding, Novice Jumping and Novice Agility titles. In August 2010, she competed in her first ANKC trial, which just happened to be the Boxer Nationals in Melbourne! She did a clear round in Jumping to take first place and Best in Jumping and incurred a fault at the weavers in Agility but also took out Best in Agility. 2011 saw an enforced break due to injury but 2012 saw a gradual return to competition and the gaining of her first ANKC title, Jumping Dog. She has just one pass to go for her Agility Dog title, which should come in 2013.

Looking for something to do until she was old enough to compete in agility she took part in her first conformation show at 6 months of age and gained her Australian Champion title in October 2012. Along the way, she gained several Best of Breed and Class in Group awards and also in 2012, won the Best Local Open Sweepstakes at Maffra in a class of about 17 dogs. This class included a number of dogs that already had Champion and Grand Champion titles along with a couple that also had multiple titles gained in other countries. The show ring is not Luca’s favourite place to be so she is now semi-retired and will probably just strut her stuff at local shows.
Late in 2012, Luca was introduced to RallyO, just missing out on a pass in her first trial (with only 3 weeks training) in November.

She loves one on one time with her mum because it means she gets lots of attention and doesn’t have to share it so trials are always good fun for her! She’ll continue with RallyO, Agility and Jumping during the cooler months but in the meantime, she keeps fit by playing with her soccer ball (she has great ball control), playing with Jordy and looking for lizards in the garden.

She goes to “school” each week where she has a wonderful time running with the other dogs after class and often goes for a walk around the lake in Sale with her mates, Cedar, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Snickers, an Australian Shepherd and Asha, a Cavoodle. (I’m sure Luca thinks Asha could be her baby)!
She’s a great kisser and really is a wonderful dog to have around the house.
